Temple Goddess Yoga explores the mythology of the Temple Goddess tradition from the temples of India to Greece, and the yoga and dance of the divine feminine and its use for healing of self and others. The postures are inspired by statues of temple dancers that can be seen across India. The traditional way of moving in yoga has been more masculine and linear. Temple dancer yoga works more with the spirals and circular way of moving that is more natural to women’s bodies. They are exercises that prepare our bodies for the physical demands of dance, and are the bridge between yoga as exercise and yoga as artful expression.
